Legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman lead the wishes of the cricketing fraternity to Draupadi Murmu, who emerged victorious in the Presidential election. Murmu became the first ever tribal person and the country’s second woman to be elected as the President of India. She secured a comfortable majority of more than 63% votes.

Draupadi Murmu will succeed Ram Nath Kovind as India’s 15th President. She would also be the nation’s first president to be born after Independence. President-elect Draupadi Murmu has served as a minister in the BJD-BJP coalition government of Odisha. She was also the Governor of Jharkhand till the end of 2021. Before entering politics, Murmu worked as a junior assistant in the State Irrigation and Power Department, and then as a teacher at Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre at Rairangpur.

On Thursday, social media was filled with wishes from all over the world including the cricketing fraternity for the NDA President nominee. Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Dinesh Karthik, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and VVS Laxman were among the few who wished the newly elected President the best for her future.

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina also shared his wishes for India’s 15th President. He tweeted, “Heartiest congratulations to Smt. #DroupadiMurmu ji on becoming the 15th and 2nd women President of India, a true inspiration and role model to many.
