Sanjiv Goenka Shares a Lighthearted Moment with Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma After LSG's Win Over MI

Friday night was electric at the Ekana Cricket Stadium as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI). With both teams needing a win to gain momentum in IPL 2025, the stakes were sky-high—and boy, did the action deliver!

The Match Recap – LSG vs MI

LSG were on fire with the bat. They piled on a massive 203/8, thanks to explosive contributions from their middle order. The top order set the foundation, and the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis ensured a big finish.

Chasing 204 is never easy, and while MI gave it a good shot, they ended up at 191/5. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma showed flashes of brilliance, but the absence of Rohit Sharma clearly impacted the chase.

Viral Clip of Goenka, Pant, and Rohit Sparks Joy

After the match, a delightful video clip started making the rounds on social media. It featured Sanjiv Goenka chatting and laughing with LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and MI’s Rohit Sharma. Even though Rohit didn’t play, his presence was felt—and the camaraderie between the trio was refreshing to see.

Goenka has always been a hands-on owner. His visible joy and casual interaction with players show a genuine connection beyond the business side of things.

Rohit Sharma’s Absence

As per Mumbai Indians’ official statement, Rohit suffered a knee injury during a practice session and had to sit out. That definitely hurt MI, considering his leadership and experience at the top. Without Rohit, MI looked a bit off balance.

Rishabh Pant’s Ongoing Form Woes

Four matches in, and Pant has only managed 19 runs. His highest so far is 15, and fans are starting to wonder if the pressure is getting to him. Pant was brought in for a whopping Rs 27 crore—a record-breaking buy meant to turn LSG’s fate around.

Zaheer Khan’s Comments on the Pitch

Zaheer Khan, LSG’s mentor, had earlier raised concerns about pitch conditions. But Pant’s post-match comments suggested a shift in attitude—play with what you’ve got.

“One thing is sure is that the wicket is playing really well, and we need to figure out what’s working for us and what is not. Before we wanted a different kind of wicket, but whatever was offered to us we will take it and play,” Pant remarked after the match.

LSG’s next test comes on April 8 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
