Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has advised Virat Kohli to seek help from batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar as he continues to struggle with the bat in international cricket. Kohli managed only seven runs before getting out to James Anderson in the first innings of the third Test at Headingley.
Kohli’s lean patch with the bat has continued for quite some time now. The 2014 horror story once again came back to haunt him as he got out to a fuller delivery on the off-stump from Anderson. Speaking on air, Sunil Gavaskar advised Virat Kohli to call Sachin Tendulkar as he did after the 2014 debacle.

“He should give a quick call to SRT (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) and ask what should I do?,” said Gavaskar on air on Wednesday.
“[He should] Do what Sachin Tendulkar did at Sydney. Say to himself that I am not going to play the cover drive,” added Gavaskar.
Virat Kohli has aggregated only 69 in four innings of three Tests, failing to get even a half-century. England pacer James Anderson has joined Australia spinner Nathan Lyon as the bowler to dismiss Kohli the most number of times (7) in the longest format.
Virat Kohli chasing balls outside off-stump is a worry for me: Sunil Gavaskar
Anderson has dismissed Sachin Tendulkar 9 times and Virat Kohli 7 times in Test cricket – that is two generations of Indian cricket and that is the legacy of James Anderson.

The former India opener Sunil Gavaskar said that Virat Kohli chasing deliveries outside the off-stump is worrying.
“That is a bit of a worry for me, because he is getting dismissed at the fifth, sixth and even seventh stump. In 2014, he was getting out more around the off-stump,” added Gavaskar while pointing to the fact that he is being drawn into playing outside the off-stump.
Meanwhile, India were all out for a mere 78 runs in the first innings on the back of a stupendous bowling effort from England.
