Royal Challengers Bangalore debutant Shahbaz Ahmed had a game-changing moment when he grabbed a stunning catch in the cover boundary to dismiss Steve Smith. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals batting first posted 177 runs losing six wickets in their 20 overs.
Rajasthan won the toss and straightaway opted to bat first. Their intent looked positive from ball one as Robin Uthappa took on Washington Sundar to hit him for 4 fours in an over. Ace all-rounder Ben Stokes had another sombre affair and so did Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.
But skipper Steve Smith showed his class and struck a few lusty blows to hand Rajasthan Royals the advantage after the first half of the innings. Chris Morris once again did well with his bull-headed attitude of landing the yorkers at regular intervals. His control ensured Royal Challengers Bangalore contain the Royals in the 170-run mark.
Shahbaz Ahmed takes a perfect catch
It was a fuller delivery outside off from tall and lanky all-rounder Chris Morris. Steve Smith, who had already brought his half-century shovelled it big but unfortunately couldn’t get enough distance. Shahbaz Ahmed, who was positioned at deep cover had come in a few yards and so as to make the lost yards, he had to dive.
