Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) spinner Shreyanka Patil has expressed that their 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) triumph is truly dedicated to captain Smriti Mandhana. Patil emphasized that the 29-year-old fully deserves this moment, considering the challenges she has faced over the past few months.
While Mandhana has enjoyed tremendous success on the field, her personal life has been turbulent. She was scheduled to marry music composer Palash Muchhal in November, but the wedding was postponed just a day before the ceremony. Later, on December 7, it was revealed that the wedding had been called off.
Following RCB’s WPL 2026 victory, Shreyanka Patil dedicated the win to both the captain and head coach Malolan Rangarajan, stating (via Cricbuzz):
“Very special feeling and I would love to mention three people – number one Smriti because she has gone through a lot in last one and a half months. This win is very special. I would love to dedicate this win to her. Malo and Anya.”
“Today is Anya’s son’s birthday – first year. I would love to wish him happy birthday. And again Malo – first time he’s head coach for the team and I think it’s a special win for all of us.”
The off-spinner was instrumental in RCB’s second WPL title, ending the 2026 season with 11 wickets in nine matches at an average of 25, including a five-wicket haul. Despite her strong tournament performance, she had a tough final, conceding 32 runs in two overs without picking up a wicket.
Smriti Mandhana Clinches WPL 2026 Final Player Of The Match
Smriti Mandhana delivered a sensational performance in the WPL 2026 final against Delhi Capitals, shining under pressure while chasing a challenging total of 204. After losing Grace Harris in just the second over, Mandhana teamed up with Georgia Voll to put together a 165-run partnership, bringing RCB back into the game.
Mandhana scored a blistering 87 off 41 balls, while Voll smashed 79 from 54 deliveries, including 14 boundaries. The Royal Challengers held their composure to seal victory in the final over with two balls remaining. For her outstanding innings, Mandhana was named Player of the Match.
