Team India batter Shreyas Iyer and former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar were recently seen at comedian Anirban Dasgupta’s show held at the Bay Club in Mumbai. Dasgupta later posted a few pictures with them on his official Instagram handle, expressing that it was an honour to have them in the audience.
Iyer has been in the spotlight lately after being left out of India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025, despite an impressive run in the IPL. The right-hander, who last featured in a T20I in December 2023, scored more than 600 runs for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, leading them to their first final since 2014.
Earlier this year, Iyer also played a pivotal role in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in the UAE. Sharing the moment online, Dasgupta expressed his gratitude through an Instagram post.

Abhishek Nayar, who played three ODIs for India in 2009, later moved into coaching. He previously worked with KKR before serving as India’s assistant coach. Following the end of his BCCI stint, he was appointed head coach of UP Warriorz in the WPL.
Shreyas Iyer selected in West Zone squad for upcoming Duleep Trophy
Shreyas Iyer has been named in the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy 2025-26, which begins on August 28 in Bengaluru. His next international assignment is expected to come during India’s limited-overs tour of Australia, starting October 19, where the team will play three ODIs and five T20Is.
Iyer’s inclusion in the T20I squad for the Australia tour will likely depend on India’s performance in the Asia Cup 2025. The 30-year-old may also turn out in a few Ranji Trophy matches this season as he looks to strengthen his case for a return to the Test side.
