Shreyas Iyer Suffers Injury Blow Ahead Of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Mumbai have suffered a massive blow ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with their star player Shreyas Iyer likely to miss the campaign owing to an injury. Incidentally, the domestic season will commence with the T20  in January next year with IPL 2021 auction in focus.

Meanwhile, Iyer was suffering from an injury in the shoulder during the limited-overs leg of the Australian tour. He was a part of the Indian squad for the ODI and T20I series in Australia. In the three 50-overs matches, the right-hander managed scores of two, 38 and 19, depicting that he wasn’t quite at his very best. Shreyas Iyer featured in the first two T20Is before being benched for the dead rubber.

The young batsman copped up a blow during an IPL game against Rajasthan Royals. However, he recovered well in time to take his side to the finals before losing to Mumbai Indians. That injury has resurfaced once again while fielding during the second ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He continued playing but cut down on his batting time in the nets.
