Shubman Gill continued his red-hot form in ODIs, achieving a rare milestone at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Playing in the third ODI against England on February 12, Gill scored a magnificent 112 off 102 balls. This century marked a unique achievement — Gill became the first Indian cricketer to register centuries in all three formats at a single venue.
He had previously scored a T20I hundred against New Zealand and a Test century against Australia in 2023. With this latest knock, his total tally at the Ahmedabad venue stands at 412 runs from seven matches.
Joining an Elite List of Players
Gill’s record places him among an exclusive group of international cricketers who have accomplished this rare feat. Before him, only four players—Faf du Plessis (Wanderers, Johannesburg), David Warner (Adelaide Oval), Babar Azam (National Stadium, Karachi), and Quinton de Kock (SuperSport Park, Centurion)—had achieved centuries in all three formats at a single venue. By joining this elite club, Gill has further solidified his reputation as one of the most promising young batters in world cricket.
Leading Run-Scorer in the Series
Gill has been in sublime touch throughout the ODI series against England, registering three 50+ scores in as many matches. His tally of 259 runs at an impressive average of 86.33 makes him the leading run-scorer of the series. With a high strike rate of 103.60, Gill played a pivotal role in anchoring India’s innings, especially after an early setback when Rohit Sharma was dismissed in the first over.
Batting alongside Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, Gill ensured India reached a formidable total of 356, surpassing their previous highest ODI total in Ahmedabad (325 against West Indies in 2002). His ability to control the innings and accelerate when needed highlights his growing stature in international cricket.
