“Silence Of Not Being Out There Hurts” – Karun Nair’s Subtle Post Draws Ashwin’s Reaction

Karun Nair shared a subtle message during the ongoing second Test between India and England in Guwahati, hinting at his feelings about India’s continued batting woes this series. Chasing South Africa’s first-innings score of 489, the home side slipped to 174/7 by the end of the second session on Day 3.

Nair expressed that he wished he were out there representing India in such a challenging scenario.

“Some conditions carry a feel you know by heart — and the silence of not being out there adds its own sting,” he wrote on X.

Karun Nair Returns After 8 Years, Shows Glimpses Despite Modest 205-Run Comeback

Karun Nair was selected for the England tour, marking his return to Test cricket after eight years, with his previous appearance coming in 2017. Understandably rusty after such a long break, he managed 205 runs across eight innings. Even so, he displayed flashes of his ability, often getting promising starts that he couldn’t build on.

In the fifth Test at The Oval, which India won to level the series, Nair contributed a vital half-century in the first innings. Despite that performance, he was left out of the Test squad following the England series. Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also responded to Nair’s post with a light-hearted comment.

“Adei😂,” he wrote, replying to Karun’s tweet.

In his tweet, the word “adei” is simply a casual expression, much like saying “arey yaar” or “hey” in Hindi-English. With India currently unable to settle the number three spot in Test cricket, many feel Karun might have deserved a longer run on his return, given the experience he brings.

Karun Nair Shines Again In Dominant Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Campaign

After being omitted following the England tour, Karun Nair rejoined Karnataka ahead of the 2025–26 domestic season, having represented Vidarbha in the 2023–24 and 2024–25 campaigns. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, the right-hander has been in outstanding touch.

Across five matches and seven innings, he has amassed 602 runs at an impressive average of 100.33, registering two centuries and two fifties. His notable knocks include an unbeaten 174 against Goa and a 233-run double ton versus Kerala. Most recently, he struck 95 against Chandigarh, helping Karnataka clinch a victory by an innings and 185 runs.

Overall, in 125 first-class appearances, Karun has accumulated 9277 runs at an average of 50.41, featuring 26 hundreds and 39 fifties. He has also played ten Tests for India, scoring 579 runs at 41.35 with one century and a fifty.
