Sri Lanka vs India series has been dealt with a major blow. As a player from the Indian contingent tested covid positive, the second T20I between the two teams has been postponed by a day.

This isn’t the first instance of Covid-19 striking Sri Lanka vs India series. Before the start of the tour, two members from the Sri Lankan camp were found to be Covid positive. Following is the list of members who tested Covid-19 positive on India’s tour of Sri Lanka.

Grant Flower, Sri Lanka batting coach

Grant Flower tested positive for the covid-19 virus earlier this month after his return from the England tour. The news came in the wake of seven England players testing positive for the virus following their match against Sri Lanka.

The entire Sri Lankan team who traveled back to Sri Lanka underwent a COVID test as soon as they landed in Colombo. The Sri Lankan Board brought in local coach Dhammika Sudarshana as a temporary replacement for the limited-overs series against India.

G. T Niroshan, Sri Lanka video analyst

After Sri Lanka’s batting coach tested positive, the RT PCR Test was carried out among the National Players, Coaches, and Support Staff of the Sri Lankan team. Following this, their video analyst G.T Niroshan was found positive for the dreaded virus. As a result, Sri Lanka vs India tour was rescheduled from July 13 to July 18.

Krunal Pandya, India all-rounder

Krunal Pandya tested positive for the virus following a Rapid Antigen test that was conducted ahead of the second T20I against Sri Lanka. Eight members from the Indian team have been identified as close contacts of Krunal. The entire contingent is undergoing RT-PCR tests to ascertain any further outbreak in the squad.

The BCCI confirmed that the second T20I has been postponed and will take place on July 28. After winning the ODI series, the Indian team is leading 1-0 in the three-match T20I series.
