Indian opener Prithvi Shaw lit up the R. Premadasa Stadium with his fiery knock against Sri Lanka on Sunday. India defeated the hosts by seven wickets taking a 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.

Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 262 runs at the loss of nine wickets at the end of the innings. Chamika Karunaratne top scored with 43 runs. Chasing the Sri Lankan total, Prithvi Shaw got India off to a brilliant start.

He smashed Isuru Udana for three consecutive boundaries in the fourth over of the innings. Shaw fell short of his fifty after tried to slog through mid-wicket, but ended up getting caught by Avishka Fernando off Dhanajaya De Silva on 43.

Shaw’s classy knock in the middle was praised by many fans and cricket pundits. His rumored girlfriend Prachi Singh also reacted to the 21-year olds impactful innings against Sri Lanka. She took to Instagram to congratulate Prithvi Shaw.

Prachi posted a couple of pictures on her Instagram stories. She captioned the first picture as “The best,” and the second as “Well Deserved”.

Disappointed with the shot when I got out: Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his explosive 43 runs in 24 balls. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Shaw stated that he was disappointed with the shot that he got out playing.

“I was disappointed with the shot when I got out. I lost a bit of focus after I was hit on the head.”

Shaw added that he backed his instincts and looked to go after the loose balls. He said,

“I just went with my instinct and waited for the loose balls. Obviously wanted to keep the scoreboard ticking and yeah. Pitch was very nice. The first innings also was good but I think it got better in the second innings.”
