Indian Young guns 21-year-old Prithvi Shaw 23-year-old Ishan Kishan were the star performer in 1st ODI against Sri Lanka. Due to the heroic performance of youngsters, India is leading the series by 1-0. In the match, Prithvi Shaw started the innings with a destructive knock of 43 off 24 balls.
However, after he got out Ishan Kishan smashed a half-century on his ODI debut. Kishan finished his innings at the score of 59 off just 42 deliveries. Meanwhile, after the first match, Harbhajan Singh has praised the youngsters.
Sri Lanka posted a comparatively low target of 263 for the second-string Indian side. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Captain Shikhar Dhawan had a 58-run partnership. Notably, Shaw started the attack from the very first over. After Shaw got out Dhawan and explosive batsman, Kishan added 85 runs together.

Ishan Kishan showed his intent after hitting the six on the very first ball of his innings. He ended his innings at the score of 59 runs including 8 fours and 2 sixers. Meanwhile, Captain Dhawan scored an unbeaten 86 and helped India chase 263 with 80 balls remaining.
Also, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was impressed with youngsters. He even asserted that it will be difficult to ignore Shaw and Kishan for the T20 World Cup 2021.
“You can judge a player on his performances. The way Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan have batted in an international game shows how capable they are and it will be difficult to ignore them for the T20 World Cup. If you want to win the World Cup you need players like these. They don’t see who is bowling in the opposition. They just back their natural game,” Harbhajan said on Sports Tak.

Although Prithvi Shaw has represented India in ODI and Test he hasn’t played a T20I game for India. However, he is soon expected to open the innings with Dhawan in the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Talking about Kishan, he has represented India in both ODIs and T20Is. Meanwhile other than Shaw and Kishan, Harbhajan Singh also lauded Suryakumar Yadav. Harbhajan highlighted that Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his spot in the T20 World Cup 2021.
“They should not be ignored based on their performances. Even if selectors have to replace a senior player, they should go ahead and do it. I also feel Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his place for the T20 World Cup. He not only plays an attacking brand of cricket but is also capable of preserving his wicket and scoring quickly at the same time,” Harbhajan said.
