Watch: Shikhar Dhawan Takes A Brilliant Catch To Dismiss Wanindu Hasaranga

Team Captain Shikhar Dhawan looked excellent on the field in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Shikhar Dhawan took a brilliant catch to dismiss Wanindu Hasaranga.

Hasaranga hit the pull against Deepak Chahar’s short ball, however, failed to connect the ball well. The ball directly went towards the skipper Dhawan at mid-wicket. The Indian captain was quick enough to take a brilliant low catch. Wanindu Hasaranga got after scoring 8 runs from 7 balls.

Meanwhile, before the Hasaranga catch, Dhawan took a brilliant running catch of Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Bhanuka was batting pretty good however he tried to attack the spinner Kuldeep which didn’t go well. He managed to only top edge the ball which resulted in Dhawan taking a stunner.

There is no doubt that Captain Shikhar Dhawan is very confident while captaining India for the first time. Dhawan is leading from the front in the fielding department. Also, he was seen making perfect bowling changes to keep things in control.

Meanwhile, India’s bowling has been top-notch in the first ODI match of the 6 matches limited-overs series. Sri Lankan batters were dismissed in regular intervals by the Indian bowling unit. Almost all the Lankan batsmen got a good start but they were unable to convert it into a big knock.

Four batsmen from Sri Lanka touched the 30 runs mark. However Indian bowler made sure no batsmen cross the 50 runs mark. The highest run-scorer from the Lankan team was C. Karunaratne he scored 43 runs.

Notably, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal had a great outing in the 1st ODI game. The star spin duo is also known as ‘ Kul-Cha’ did a great job for the team. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed two set batsmen Fernando and Shanaka.

Also, Chahal gave 52 runs in 10 overs at an economy of 5.20.  Meanwhile another half of Kul-Cha; Kuldeep Yadav also bagged two wickets. Notably, this was the first time since 2019 when Kuldeep and Chahal played together for India.
