Team India has faced a huge blow as Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan has been tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, this is the second case of Covid-19 in the Indian camp. On Tuesday The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the star all-rounder Krunal Pandya was tested positive for Covid-19. So following the covid spread the second T20I match between India and Sri Lanka was postponed.
Meanwhile, it was reported that 8 players were in close contact with Krunal Pandya. Notably, All the players were instantly sent for self-isolation after getting tested. The list of players includes Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, K Gowtham, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, and Manish Pandey.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw were scheduled to travel to England to join India’s Test squad. However, after the Covid-19 spread in the Indian camp, there might be a delay in their travel plans. The players will have to have a negative report before flying to England.
Also after landing in England they have to complete the mandatory quarantine before joining the Indian squad. So Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw will not be able to join the team at least before the 2nd Test match.
Also, Krunal Pandya was shifted to another hotel after he contracted the virus. Meanwhile, BCCI announced postponing the 2nd T20I match after the case. According to the new schedule, the 2nd T20I was set for 28 July and the 3rd T20I for 29 July.
