New day new debutant, India presented a brand new face to the cricketing world in the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka. The new face was Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Sandeep Warrier, he got emotional while receiving the debut cap.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) uploaded a video on Twitter and wrote:

The India tour Sri Lanka 3rd T20I started at the R. Premadasa Stadium Colombo. India once again entered the match without the star players. As 8 of the first-choice players from team India are in isolation. The list of players includes Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Deepak Chahar, Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Manish Pandey, and Covid-19 positive Krunal Pandya.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Warrier replaced RCB fast bowler Navdeep Saini from the squad. Notably, Navdeep Saini was part of India’s squad in the second T20I game in Sri Lanka. However, during the match, Navdeep Saini injured himself while attempting a catch. Also, Saini didn’t bowl even a single over in the match before he was ruled out due to injury.

India had a poor start with the bat in the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka

India was already playing a batsman short in the game. Also among the 5 batsmen, only Shikhar Dhawan has got a good amount of international experience. However, Dhawan failed to provide a good start to team India in the 3 T20I games.

Captain Dhawan got out on the duck also his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad scored only 14 runs. Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal scored 9 runs and Sanju Samson continued his poor form with bat getting out on a duck. Overall India performed terrible with the bat, with the top 4 batsmen getting out before the 5th over.
