Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar recently started new innings after tieing the knot with his longtime girlfriend Puja Debnath. However, the marriage has landed the illustrious cricketer in serious trouble right from the first day. After reports emerged that as many as seven mobiles have been stolen from the wedding venues, Soumya might now land himself in big trouble for using deerskin in one of the rituals.
Previously, reports suggested that two people were arrested for stealing mobile phones in Sarkar’s marriage. A fight broke out during the ceremony, and now, the cricketer and his family could face further trouble for using deer’s skin in the marriage.
It has been almost two weeks that the marriage has been done and dusted but the trouble continues to pile on for Soumya Sarkar. The stylish southpaw and his family now could face legal action and possible jail term for up to three years as per the law owing to the possession of a deer’s skin. Sarkar’s father Kishori Mohan Sarkar said that it is ritual in their family which has been going on for ages.
"This is a sign of our family tradition. The skin is mainly used for prayer. It’s too old It has been used for ages. I got it in the descent. I received deerskin from my father. I know he got it from his father," he said.
I have received many more things from my ancestors. Everything is with me. Soumya is my little boy. I am having a very busy time with his marriage. However, a group is making things complicated about the deerskin. I do not know why," he added.
Speaking on the work front, Soumya Sarkar was recently dropped from the central contracts by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Meanwhile, if it really happens it would be a big blow for Bangladesh and their title hopes for the upcoming T20 World Cup, as Sarkar has been in a good form lately.
