Sourav Ganguly feels India should find a strategy to go past semis in ICC tournaments

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly feels that India should redefine its strategies to create a further impact in World tournaments. In one of the interviews with The Print, Ganguly shared his views on the current Indian squad to the Carribean tour and several other points.

Ganguly said that he isn”t angry over the omissions of a few talented players from the side. He clarified that his tweets were only a suggestion to the BCCI and it did not reflect any anger towards the same. These tweets became viral a few days after the squad selection when Ganguly said all formats should feature a similar bunch of players. He also had a lot of praise for Rishabh Pant who already has overseas test centuries.

Though the Indian side has progressed through the group stages in the ICC tournaments, the nerves aren”t cool in further stages. The last four ICC tournaments( ICC WT20 2014, WC 2015, WT20 2016, CT 2017, WC 2019) have created some dull faces in the Indian camp. Speaking on the same Ganguly said, “We have to find a way to move beyond the last-four stage. England did it in the recent WC. Learning from 2015? they transformed themselves into World Beaters.”

Ganguly advised the side to have a game plan and take the pressure off the players. He also said that there shouldn”t be any communication gap between the selectors, players, and team management. He stressed the importance of match-winning spells or innings than some cameos.

Dada on the split captaincy

Sourav Ganguly hasn”t given any of his views on split captaincy though. He said that it”s up to the selectors and the officials if it is needed for the betterment of the game.

Dada also appreciated Dhoni who is currently serving the army during the short break. On his participation in World T20 next year, he said that the decision is up to Dhoni.
