The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President and former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly recently sat down to choose his all-time XI. The cricketer-turned-administrator made some interesting calls that may surprise the fans, in a video from 2016 that has surfaced on social media once again.

The Prince of Kolkata chose Matthew Hayden and Alastair Cook as his openers. This was a great choice considering their prowess at the top. The middle-order was star-studded with the likes of Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar completing the top 5.

Ricky Ponting was also named the captain of this team and is one the greatest batsman who anyone could depend upon. Dravid and Tendulkar need no introduction at all and everyone knows who they are and what they have done. He left out two great Indian batters in Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag.

Kumar Sangakkara picked as wicket-keeper in Sourav Ganguly’s all-time XI

Sourav Ganguly picked Kumar Sangakkara over the likes of MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist as the wicketkeeper for his team. Meanwhile, former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis took the all-rounder spot in Dada’s all-time XI.

Ganguly also opted for the spin duo of Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. Finally, completing the team were pacers Glenn McGrath and Dale Steyn, who can trouble the batters with their line and length, and also with their pace.

Sourav Ganguly’s all-time XI: Matthew Hayden, Alastair Cook, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting (C), Glenn McGrath, Dale Steyn, Shane Warne, and Muttiah Muralitharan
