Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly stated that the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is making every effort to keep the IPL 2025 final at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 52-year-old expressed optimism that the situation would be resolved soon.
Earlier, fans protested outside Eden Gardens amid reports that the BCCI was considering relocating the final. Sourav Ganguly emphasized that the BCCI and CAB maintain a good working relationship.
“No, no we’re trying – talking to the BCCI. Is it that easy to shift the final? It’s Eden’s Playoffs, and I’m sure everything will be sorted. I’m very hopeful. Protest doesn’t help much. BCCI has a very good relationship with the Cricket Association of Bengal,” the former BCCI President said at the All India Invitation Inter-School Regetta in Kolkata (via Sportstar).
Kolkata was supposed to host Qualifier Two and the final, but the final was delayed by a week. This moved it to a time of year when bad weather is more likely. KKR was knocked out of the IPL because of bad weather in Bengaluru, which caused one of their matches to be canceled. It was their second match that got washed out this season.
