Sourav Ganguly Shares His Views On Prithvi Shaw
Sourav Ganguly Releases An Exclusive Statement About This Player of Delhi Capitals

One of the young players at the Delhi Capitals, where former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly currently serves as director of cricket. He has already made it back to the Indian team.

All eyes will be on the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which kicks off in three days, with the World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India, only six months away.

Due to the different format, selection for the remaining ODIs in the year before the World Cup may not be completely affected by the season, but it will to some extent.

Asserting that the selection committee and India captain Rohit Sharma are keeping a close eye on Prithvi Shaw, Ganguly supported Shaw in his interview with Times of India in order for him to achieve that breakthrough once more. Shaw, in Ganguly’s opinion, is more than prepared to put on the Indian jersey once more.

“Prithvi Shaw is ideally ready to play and contribute for the Indian side, in my view”

The number of openings will determine whether he gets a chance. He is being watched closely by selectors and Rohit Sharma, I’m sure. He said, “He’s a good player and is prepared.

A limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka in 2021 marked Shaw’s final appearance for India. When he was selected for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand at home in January of this year, he was almost given his first opportunity to play for the Indian playing XI. The team management opted to back first-choice opener, Shubman Gill.

He played in five tests and six ODIs overall, scoring 339 and 189 runs, respectively. Additionally, he received a golden duck dismissal in his only T20I appearance.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, former India cricketer Murali Vijay expressed surprise at Shaw’s continued absence from the team and predicted that the youngster would go on to become one of the nation’s future superstars. He said:

“India’s team features 15 superstars. You are already a superstar to me if you play for India. I really admire Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw, though, in terms of skill. Top athletes, they are. For Indian cricket. Rishabh Pant has also made significant contributions. He’ll get better quickly, I hope.”
