South African skipper Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of ODI series against Sri Lanka. He sustained a shoulder injury in the last game while diving for a catch. It is to be noted that South Africa has already won the series 3-0 with still two matches to go. This injury also means that he will not be a part of the only T20I match too.

Speaking on the same, South African team manager Mohammed Moosaaje “Faf sustained an injury to one of the rotator cuff tendons in his right shoulder and will, unfortunately, be unavailable for the rest of the tour.” He further added that Faf is expected to undergo a rehabilitation period of six weeks for a full recovery.

However, the anchor for the rest of the series hasn”t been out yet. In all possibilities, Hashim Amla or JP Duminy is expected to take up the role. Aiden Markram, the man who led the team in the absence of Faf in the six-match ODI series against India is also in the race and it will be interesting who will be taking up the role.

The next match will be played at Kandy tomorrow and the top order issues seem to be sorted for the visitors. The much blitz from Quinton de Kock at the top of the order has really been a huge positive for the side.

With the arrival of Reeza Hendricks, the absence of AB de Villiers didn”t feel a huge void in the last game. He, in turn, scored his century in the debut which happened to be the fastest by a debutant.

Is South Africa aiming for a whitewash? What do you think?
