Australian cricketer Alex Carey feels reverse-swing will also posses a threat for the batters in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. He expressed that his side will be wary of the threat of the fast bowlers along with the spinners. The high-octane series is all set to kick off on February 9 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Speaking to the reports, Alex Carey expressed that during his Pakistan tour, he found it difficult to play against reverse swing. He added that even in India, during the 2018 Australia A game, the talk was about spin, but the fast bowlers were damaging too with the reverse swing in play. He said,

“Going to Pakistan there was a lot of spin talk and I found the reverse-swinging ball really difficult. I played a four-day game (for Australia A against India A) in 2018 and a lot of the talk was about spin and you forget a little bit about how damaging how both teams’ fast bowlers are with a reverse swinging ball, with a wicket that might be a little bit up and down.”

“Having the preparation and the game to ebb and flow between fast bowling and spin, and (during) dry periods where you won’t score, (is important),” he added.

You go out with a plan to hopefully succeed, but it doesn’t always happen: Alex Carey

Australian cricketer Alex Carey further spoke about playing sweep shot in Indian conditions, to counter spin bowling. He expressed that he will be up to the task, and wouldn’t hesitate to play the shot. Carey added,

“I’ve got a sore glute today, I played a few yesterday. I bat seven, so I get to have a bit of a look at what the conditions are doing. You go out there with a bit of a plan to hopefully succeed, it doesn’t always happen but if you can put it in your favor a little, that’s helpful.”
