Its time for redemption. A lot has happened since 2013 and Sreesanth had to pay the price losing seven prime years of his career. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) lifts his ban in September this year, the pacer will seek revival. Meanwhile, in its first step, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has decided to include Sreesanth in their Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming season.

The biggest shock in his eventful career came in 2013. Delhi Police had to arrest him along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan for match-fixing charges. While many thought Sreesanth’s career was over, it was far from over in his mind. He was taking small strides to fight the battle and return to doing what he loves the most.

Finally, in 2019 the Supreme Court upheld his guilt but asked the BCCI to reduce his quantum of punishment. Later the BCCI had reduced his life ban to seven years which will end September 2020. And the cricketer wants to use this as an opportunity.

Sreesanth, who has set his eyes on the 2023 World Cup in India, is grateful to the state association for giving him an opportunity. The fast bowler, who is currently sweating it out in his home gym, is desperate to prove his business and return to the field where he belongs.

“I am really indebted to the KCA for giving me a chance. I will prove my fitness and storm back to the game. It is time for all controversies to take rest,” he said in Kochi.

Meanwhile, Kerala have a strong side which can pose challenges to big teams. Along with Sreesanth, the team will have the experience of Robin Uthappa and Jalaj Saxena with youngsters like Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby. Recently KCA had appointed former fast bowler Tinu Yohanan as the team coach.

All eyes will be on Kerala this domestic season with Sreesanth aiming to take his state on the top in this upcoming Ranji Trophy.
