Reportedly the coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team Mickey Arthur has made a special request to his players. Mickey Arthur instructed Sri Lanka cricketers to stay away from social media. Coach Arthur made this statement after losing the series 1-2 against Shikhar Dhawan-led India.

Notably, India started the series with a bang,winning the first match of the three-match ODI series in dominating manner. Shikhar Dhawan led India defeated team Sri Lanka by 7 wickets and 80 balls remaining. Adding to it,Sri Lanka started the series with a very poor performance against a strong Indian side.

However, during the second encounter Sri Lanka performed way better than the first match. At one point in time, it looked like Sri Lanka will defeat India in the 2nd ODI. The bowling unit of Sri Lanka reduced India to 193/7 during defending 275 runs target. Still, due to the magical batting performance of Deepak Chahar (69) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (19), India won the match. According to many cricket experts, Shanaka missed a trick and made poor bowling changes,which in the end resulted in  Sri Lanka losing the match.

During the second ODI coach Mickey Arthur was seen doing angry gestures watching the game. Also after the loss, he was involved in a heated argument with captain Dasun Shanaka. However later with a tweet Arthur denied the allegations of a heated argument with the skipper. Adding to it Arthur stated that it was a very good debate with Skipper Shanaka.

Meanwhile, Arthur was very happy to finally get a win against India in the third ODI game. Also, the win against India helped Sri Lanka to get 10 important points for ICC ODI Super League.

After the series loss, Sri Lankan journalist Rex Clementine took Twitter to reveal the advice of Mickey Arthur’s to players.

“Couldn’t have been happier to see them come good”: Mickey Arthur on Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa

 

Notably one of the biggest reasons behind Sri Lanka’s victory in the last ODI was the spin duo of Akila Dananjaya and Praveen Jayawickrama. Akila and Praveen bagged 3 scalps each during the dead rubber encounter.

Also on the batting side opener, Avishka Fernando (76 off 98 balls) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (65 off 56 balls) played exceptional innings. These two played the most important innings to complete the 225 runs chase.

Mickey Arthur praised the two batsmen for maintaining good fitness and scoring amazing runs for the team.
