Sri Lanka Cricket Elevates Coaching Standards With Addition of Bharat Arun In Advanced Role

Sri Lanka has enlisted the expertise of former India bowling coach Bharat Arun as part of their initiative to provide advanced training to coaches and support staff within the country. In addition to Arun, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board has also brought on board former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes, who now specializes in coaching fielding techniques, and Alex Kountouri, a highly regarded physiotherapist with previous experience working with the Sri Lankan national team.

This strategic move aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of the coaching and support staff, signalling a proactive approach by the Sri Lankan cricket authorities. The inclusion of seasoned professionals like Arun, Rhodes, and Kountouri demonstrates a commitment to elevating the overall standards of coaching and player well-being within the Sri Lankan cricketing ecosystem.

Currently facing suspension, Sri Lanka is eagerly awaiting a favourable outcome after recent discussions between International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Geoff Allardice and the country’s president, Ranil Wickremesinghe, along with sports minister Harin Fernando. The board’s optimism stems from their recent triumph over a touring Zimbabwe side, securing victories in both the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

This successful start to the new season not only sets a positive tone but also underscores the potential impact of the new coaching and support staff additions in achieving sustainable success on the cricketing stage.

The governing body additionally revealed a reward program to acknowledge and remunerate young cricketers. Furthermore, a resolution was made to augment the match fees for players engaged in the National Super League.
