Sri Lanka has officially revealed its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, set to take place in January and February 2026. Leading the team is Vimath Dinsara, who has been appointed captain, with Kavija Gamage serving as the vice-captain.

The selection reflects Sri Lanka’s aim to balance youthful potential with capable leadership as they gear up for one of the most important events on the junior cricket calendar.

The announcement comes as part of preparations for the global tournament, which draws participation from the top youth teams across cricket-playing nations. The squad features a mix of promising talent across batting, bowling and all-round disciplines, highlighting the selectors’ focus on both depth and versatility within the team. 

Composition and Key Players in the Squad

The Sri Lankan lineup includes several notable young cricketers who have shown promise in age-group competitions. Apart from captain Dinsara and vice-captain Gamage, the squad includes players like Dimantha Mahavithana, Viran Chamuditha, Chamika Heentigala, Adam Hilmy, and Chamarindu Nethsara, among others. These selections bring together a combination of aggressive batters, dependable bowlers and all-round contributors capable of influencing matches in multiple facets of play.

The ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6, featuring 16 teams from around the world. Sri Lanka has been placed in Group A, alongside defending champions Australia, Ireland and Japan, ensuring a challenging group stage ahead.

They will begin their campaign against Japan on January 17 — an important early fixture that could set the tone for their tournament run. With the world cup stage offering a major platform for emerging talents, Sri Lanka’s young side will aim to combine team cohesion with individual brilliance to make a meaningful impact.

The tournament format will see teams divided into groups where each side plays a round-robin, before advancing to knockout stages, testing consistency and resilience across a variety of match situations.
