Team India batter KL Rahul has hinted at his return to the field in his latest social media post. He has been on the sidelines with a thigh injury which he sustained during the 2023 Indian Premier League earlier this year playing for the Lucknow Super Giants. He is currently recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

KL Rahul suffered the injury during Lucknow Super Giants’ game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was in the field, running to save a boundary. In the process, he hurt his right leg. KL Rahul was ruled out of the Indian Premier League and also missed the World Test Championship final. He underwent a successful operation on May 9 in England and then reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to begin his recovery.

KL Rahul took to social media to share a post from his training session. The post hints at a return to the field soon. He wrote,Starting to feel like me again”.

The right-handed batter last played an international match in March 2023 against Australia in Chennai. He has played 47 Tests, 54 ODIs and 72 T20Is for Team India, amassing 6893 runs, including fourteen centuries and forty-eight fifties.

KL Rahul likely to return to Team India for the 2023 Asia Cup

According to reports, veteran batter KL Rahul is likely to make a comeback to the Indian team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. His comeback will be a huge boost for Team India as they prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Speaking about KL Rahul’s return to the team, a senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official said to Inside Sport,

“KL Rahul’s recovery is going well. He should be fit in a month or so. Return from surgery is always tricky and he is a very important player for World Cup.”
