Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell came up with important contributions against India in the first ODI against India in Sydney. Smith scored 105 off 66 balls and Maxwell scored a quickfire 45 off 19 balls which took Australia to 374 for 6 after their 50 overs. Previously Australia skipper Aaron Finch scored a hundred and David Warner 69 as the duo made an opening stand of 156. The Australian batters put out a serious performance against the Indian bowlers as a competitive summer of cricket starts down under.
Maxwell and Smith added a quickfire 57-run stand as India lost control of the game in the middle overs. Meanwhile seeing Maxwell and Smith go great guns their respective IPL shared their pain on Twitter.

Both Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell had a forgetful IPL season in the 2020 edition. Smith scored 311 runs in 14 innings at an average of 25.91 While Maxwell scored just 108 runs in 11 innings with the best of 32. Maxwell was one of the biggest buys of IPL 2020 after KXIP roped him in for 10.50 crores.

“I was pretty disappointed actually with my batting throughout the IPL. I never really got into a good rhythm. The past few days I have found something … I have found my hands which I am extremely excited about. It’s just getting that feel of the bat behind my toe the right way, the way my hands come up the bat,” he had earlier stated before the first ODI.
He further added to have found his hands ahead of the first ODI. He said how he found his hands and the entire process of how he bats right from his stance to the way he uses his wrists to score runs.
“I was really excited. Theoretically, it is a simple thing, but it is just getting that feel and the look of the bat behind my toe the right way and the way my hands come up on the bat. It’s hard to explain but it just hasn’t quite been right until probably two days ago and I found a little something and everything just clicked in,” he further explained.
