Steve Smith Signs Bangladesh Premier League T20 Contract

A couple of days ago, Steve Smith was spotted in the nets at Sydney Cricket Ground facing the quicks at the nets. He was seen batting solidly and brimming with confidence to keep his game at the same level where he has left.

He was also spotted with the coach Justin Langer at a restaurant where they were seen formulating certain strategies. The depleted Australian side will be missing his services and a huge responsibility is on their shoulders to recreate a magic against the number one ranked test side, India.

Smith has now been signed by Comilla Victorians for 2019 edition of Bangladesh Premier League. This news has certainly put a smile on the faces of millions of his fans all over the world. He has been roped into the side to fill the shoes of Shoaib Malik, the Pakistani veteran who will be leaving the team after the initial games for the limited overs against South Africa.

Steve Smith has been playing few matches after his ban from International cricket. He represented Global T20 league at Canada, CPL and he is now currently engaged in Sydney grade cricket too. Though cricketers association appealed to lessen ban on the “leadership group”, Cricket Australia has given a red signal for the same thus denying his inclusion anytime soon.

BPL is set to commence from January 5 and it would be a perfect platform for him to prepare for the 2019 World Cup. Smith”s deputy David Warner was already signed by Sylhet Sixers a few weeks ago and the international flavour has been exponentially growing for the T20 league.

Smits and Warner will have their bans lifted in March next year. However, they aren”t allowed to take up captaincy for a period of two years (until 2020).
