India’s batter Tilak Varma humorously gave instructions to local players Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar before the second T20I against England in Chennai. This amusing moment occurred while the players were traveling from Kolkata to Chennai.
The Indian team got off to a strong start in the five-match series, defeating England by seven wickets at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, January 22, to take a 1-0 lead.
The BCCI recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing the players’ journey from Kolkata to Chennai for the second match on January 25. In the clip, Tilak humorously requested Chakravarthy to send him ‘crispy dosas’ for breakfast and mentioned he would have dinner at Washington’s place.
“Do player hain apne team se, ek Varun ek Washi (Washington Sundar). Unke liye mein yeh bol na chah raha hu ki Varun subeh subeh ghar pe ek crispy dosa chahiye breakfast ke liye aur sham ko Washi ke ghar mein dinner chahiye,” Tilka Varma said in the video.

Varun Chakravarthy, who made a strong start to the home T20I series with figures of 3/23, is excited about playing in front of his parents and family in Chennai.
“We are going to Chennai and it will be my first game for India in Chennai. I’m excited because my parents will be coming and my family will also be coming to see, so very excited,” Chakravarthy said in the aforementioned video.
What has been Tilak Varma’s performance in T20Is so far?
After impressing with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Tilak Varma was quickly included in India’s T20 squad. The left-handed batter made his debut against the West Indies in Tarouba in 2023.
He remained composed, scoring a solid 39 runs in his first outing. Tilak followed up with a half-century and an unbeaten 49, proving his capabilities at the highest level. Tilak’s reputation soared when he scored back-to-back centuries against South Africa in an away series last year.
Till date, the 22-year-old has accumulated 635 runs in 21 T20I matches, averaging 52.91 and striking at 159.54. He has also notched up two centuries and two fifties.
