[WATCH]- Ex-RR Batter’s One-Handed Stunner Dismisses Rahane In Ranji Trophy Match vs J&K

Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra pulled off a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Ajinkya Rahane on Day 2 (Friday, January 24) of the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. Rahane, the Mumbai skipper, departed for 16 runs off 36 balls as the defending champions faltered at home.

After wrapping up the opposition’s lower order in the first session, Mumbai faced an 86-run deficit. Despite a strong start at 54-0 from Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mumbai collapsed to 86-5, leaving Rahane with the responsibility of stabilizing the innings.

In the 27th over, Rahane attempted a signature cover drive off a full delivery from Umar Nazir. However, the shot was mistimed, sending the ball in the air between cover and mid-off, where Dogra made his spectacular catch to dismiss Rahane.

The 40-year-old Dogra showcased sharp reflexes, sprinting to his left and executing a full-length dive to secure the one-handed catch. You can watch the video of brilliant fielding by Paras Dogra here:

Mumbai found themselves struggling at 91-6 after 26.1 overs following Rahane’s dismissal. A defeat in this match could significantly damage their chances of qualifying and defending their title, as they entered the contest in third place on the table.

Ajinkya Rahane contributed 12 runs in the first innings against Jammu and Kashmir

Ajinkya Rahane, like the rest of Mumbai’s star-studded batting lineup, struggled in the first innings. After opting to bat, the defending champions were 12-2 when Rahane came in on Day 1. He managed just 12 runs before being bowled by Umar Nazir in the 13th over.

Mumbai were eventually dismissed for 120, with Shardul Thakur’s counter-attacking fifty being the lone highlight. At present, Mumbai are 115-7 in the 33rd over, with Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian at the crease, holding a slim 29-run lead.
