Ajinkya Rahane has been continuously driving accolades ever since he has led India to a memorable win at the MCG in the second Test. Rahane himself also tweeted out a thank you message for all the love he has been shared upon by cricket fans and experts. Rahane scored his second ton at this venue to help India win the Test match. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar has said that it is heartening to see Ajinkya Rahane lauded for former Australian legends.
Several former Australian legends predicted India losing all four Test matches against Australia. They said India will find it difficult to win even a single Test match in the absence of Virat Kohli. However, Rahane leading India to a win at the MCG has taken everyone by surprise.
In the same context former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar said to India Today that it is so welcoming to see former Australian greats praising Rahane for the feat he has achieved.

Former Aussie Legends Praise Ajinkya Rahane
“You had to be around the Australian commentary boxes to understand the kind of admiration that was there for the way he (Rahane) lead the team amongst some of the Australian legends who were at the commentary box,” Gavaskar told said.
“So that was such a heartening thing to see that he was being praised for his leadership by these guys, someone like Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Mike Hussey, Shane Warne, they had nothing but praise for Rahane’s captaincy,” he added.
Ajinkya Rahane has been given a lot of accolades for the way he handled the win in the absence of key players. Also, he has been credited for the way he has handled two debutants Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill. Gill played an unbeaten 35-run knock and as involved in a 51-run stand with Rahane which saw India through in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has confirmed the Sydney Cricket Ground as the venue for the third Test. Rohit Sharma is likely to make a comeback in the game. However, a final decision on the same will be made before the Test match.
