As Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning ways, they were dealt with a massive blow as pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar walked off the field with a side strain. The incident took place earlier today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during Hyderbad’s game against Punjab Kings, confirmed commentator Lisa Sthalekar.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was clinical with the ball during the game and bowled a tight first over, in which he conceded only six runs. In his next over, the senior fast bowler accounted for the wicket of Punjab skipper KL Rahul. The batsman ended up dragging a good length delivery straight to Kedar Jadhav positioned at the mid-wicket.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffers injury scare
Bhuvneshwar bowled his third over in the powerplay and finished with figures of 3-0-16-1 before he left the field. He didn’t return to the field to bowl his final over. Siddarth Kaul and Khaleel Ahmed took the responsibility of bowling the death overs and did an excellent job. With T Natarajan already out of action with a niggle, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury if it is serious will add more salt to the wound. Incidentally, they are already struggling with three defeats from the first four games.
Meanwhile, India international has a long history of struggling due to hamstring injuries. Bhuvneshwar underwent a sports hernia surgery early last year, which kept him out of action for a while. The pacer made a comeback in IPL 2020 but was ruled out in SRH’s fourth game of the season.
Speaking about the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad have finally returned to winning ways after losing three on a trot. After restricting Punjab Kings to 120 runs courtesy of a brilliant bowling display. Hyderabad chased down the target with eight balls to spare. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow added 73 runs for the first wicket to lay the platform before the English wicket-keeper batsman took the side home.
