The retirement speculation of the former India skipper MS Dhoni has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. He has been on a sabbatical since India’s lost to New Zealand in the rain-marred semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. However, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma hope to see the legendary cricketer back on the field.

Incidentally, the legendary wicket-keeper batsman copped severe criticisms for his below-par performances throughout the tournament. His poor outing with the bat also took a toll on his confidence which in turn affected in wicket-keeping. MS Dhoni was mulling a return during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and had already started his training at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

However, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, BCCI postponed the tournament for an indefinite period. Originally, it was scheduled to commence from March 29. With the future of the competition in jeopardy, Dhoni’s international return was all but over. But as it looks now, MS Dhoni is yet to give up on his career.

Suresh Raina, who was with MS Dhoni in the Super Kings training camp, reiterated that a lot of cricket is left in Dhoni during an Instagram Live chat with Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai cricketer, in reply also spoke on the same lines. The dashing India opener admitted that if MS Dhoni is in the right state, he should start playing soon.

“I saw him & he was batting so well in CSK practice sessions. He is fit, his skills were good, he has a lot of cricket left in him,” Raina said.

“If that is the case, he should play, I hope he starts playing again,” Rohit Sharma quipped.

However, the return of MS Dhoni still looks a lot gloomy and it will only be clear when cricket resumes after the coronavirus pandemic.
