VVS Laxman opined that Suryakumar Yadav can become an important member of team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021

Currently, Suryakumar Yadav is in Sri Lanka, as he is part of the 20-member squad for the Sri Lanka limited-overs tour. SKY already is in great form and performing well in the Sri Lanka tour will cement his spot in the T20 World Cup team.

While discussing about Surya on Star Sports, VVS Laxman stated that he wants Surya to play all 6 matches. As India Tour of Sri Lanka includes 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. He also believes that Suryakumar will be a front-runner for a spot he India’s T20 World Cup team.

“This is a great opportunity. I just want him [Yadav] to play all the 6 matches, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is because he is someone who can definitely walk into the T20 World Cup squad, as far as I am concerned.”

VVS Laxman also wants Suryakumar Yadav to gain confidence at the international stage for India.

Due to the absence of Big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul, Suryakumar will get all the chance to shine. Adding to it Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul are currently part of the marquee five-match Test series against England. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav should grab this opportunity with both hands and score some big knocks against Sri Lanka.

Former Indian batsman was also seen praising the two Mumbai Indians batsmen; Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. While applauding the performances of batters against England, VVS Laxman asserted.

“Both of them [Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan] capitalized those opportunities. I was really excited the way Suryakumar Yadav batted at No.3.”

VVS Laxman especially lauded Suryakumar Yadav hitting a six off his first International delivery that too against a bowler like Jofra Archer. He said:

“The kind of freedom, the first scoring shot in international cricket and that too against a quality fast bowler like Jofra Archer, to hit him for a six over fine-leg shows the kind of confidence and the skill and the talent he possesses.”

So far Suryakumar Yadav has scored 89 runs in the two T20I innings against England. He has scored a half-century too and batted with a strike rate of 185.41.
