
Several Indian players witnessed notable movement in the latest ICC T20I rankings following the five-match home series against South Africa. Captain Suryakumar Yadav slipped out of the top ten in the batting charts after his lean patch continued against the Proteas. The right-hander managed just 34 runs from four outings, averaging 8.50 with a strike rate of 103.03.
As a result, Suryakumar dropped three places to 13th position. In contrast, his Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma maintained his strong upward trajectory in the T20I batter rankings. The left-hander impressed with a superb series, amassing 187 runs at an average exceeding 62 and a strike rate of 131.69, which helped him climb one spot to third place.
Young opener Abhishek Sharma retained his position at the summit of the rankings after another impressive outing against South Africa, scoring over 100 runs in the series at a striking rate of 174.57. In the T20I bowler rankings, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy also held on to the top spot following a standout performance against the Proteas.
The veteran spinner took 10 wickets at an average of 11.25 with an economy under 7.50, while Jasprit Bumrah made the biggest move, jumping 10 places to 18th in the T20I bowler rankings. The premier fast bowler picked up four wickets across the three matches he featured in, averaging under 20 and conceding runs at an economy of 7.18.
How Indian All-Rounders Fared In The Latest ICC T20I Rankings?
The latest T20I all-rounder rankings saw slight movement among a handful of Indian players. Hardik Pandya held on to his fourth position, while Axar Patel slipped one place to 10th. The left-arm spinning all-rounder featured in just two matches of the series against South Africa before being sidelined by injury.
With the bat, Axar averaged 22 at a strike rate below 105, while also claiming three wickets at an average of 11.33 and an economy rate of 6.80. Batting all-rounder Shivam Dube also dropped a spot to 17th following a subdued outing against the Proteas, where he scored 32 runs and took two wickets across four matches.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma moved up one place to 18th. Despite bowling only a single over and conceding 13 runs in the series, his rise was aided by 103 runs with the bat at an average of 25.75.
