T20 Blast 2023: [Watch] Ex-RCB Player Hit 5 Sixes In An Over, Stuns Crowd

In the T20 Blast tournament for Surrey against Middlesex, England all-rounder and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Will Jacks imitated the feat of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh in IPL 2023 by hitting five sixes.

Jacks nearly broke Yuvraj Singh’s 2007 T20 World Cup record of six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad when he smacked Middlesex leg-spinner Luke Hollman for six consecutive times.

Jacks missed the IPL 2023 season due to injury after being purchased by Virat Kohli’s RCB for Rs 3.2 crore. With only a single off the last ball, Surrey’s opener only managed 31 runs in the over.

The Surrey and England all-rounder scored 95 off 46 balls with 7 sixes and added 177 runs for the first wicket with Laurie Evans (85, 37 balls, 5 sixes, and 9 fours) in less than 13 overs as Surrey amassed a whopping total of 252 for 7 after electing to bat first.

Rinku Singh helped KKR defeat Hardik Pandya’s team in the IPL 2023 by hitting five sixes in the final over of their game against Gujarat Titans off the bowling of Yash Thakur. But Surrey lost despite Jack’s spectacular performance.

With just 3 wickets and 4 balls remaining, Middlesex successfully chased down the enormous target. Max Holden continued to be unbeaten on 68 off 35 balls with 2 sixes and 9 fours, while captain Stephen Eskinazi scored 73 off 39 balls with 1 six and 13 fours to lead the way.

Middlesex in the South Group’s streak of losing 10 straight games came to an end with the stunning victory, but Surrey was unable to pass Somerset at the top of the standings.

Although it fell six runs short of South Africa’s record victory over the West Indies earlier this year, the contest’s 506 runs broke the Vitality Blast record for highest match aggregate score. It was also the second-highest successful run chase in T20 history.

“Middlesex captain Eskinazi said, “We must have been on one of the longest losing streaks, so to pull out a performance like that is absolute magic.”

“It’s incredibly unique. I believe that we have known about the talent, skill, and tenacity on display tonight in our dressing room, but it’s crucial to demonstrate it to the rest of the nation. ”
