Young talents Musheer Khan, Ayush Mhatre, Suryansh Shedge, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi emerged as some of the top picks during the opening round of the player auction for the third edition of the T20 Mumbai League, scheduled to take place from May 26 to June 8.
Musheer Khan, 20, the younger brother of IPL player Sarfaraz Khan and currently part of the Punjab Kings squad, was bought for Rs 15 lakh by Arcs Andheri, along with 22-year-old Shedge. Ayush Mhatre, who made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai this season and impressed in both the red-ball format and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, recently debuted in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings.
The 17-year-old was acquired by Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast for Rs 14.75 lakh. The same franchise also picked up Shedge for Rs 13.75 lakh. Notably, the team features India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav as its icon player.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the 20-year-old Mumbai batter currently with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, was signed by SoBo Mumbai Falcons for Rs 14 lakh. Meanwhile, North Mumbai Panthers secured the services of Tanush Kotian, who earned a Test call-up during India’s tour of Australia last year, for Rs 10 lakh.
Ayush Mhatre Performance In IPL 2025
Seventeen-year-old Ayush Mhatre has made a remarkable entry into the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, emerging as a standout performer for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Initially unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, Mhatre was later brought into the CSK squad as a replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In four matches, Ayush Mhatre has scored 163 runs with an average of 40.75 and a strike rate of 185.00. His standout performance was a blistering 94 off 48 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), showcasing his potential as a future star in Indian cricket.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs after a disappointing season. Despite early promise, they suffered eight losses in ten matches, marking their second consecutive group-stage exit. Their inconsistent batting, injuries, and poor form led to their downfall, making them the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention.
