Ravi Shastri head coach of the India cricket team whose contract has almost come to an end after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where India failed to qualify for the Semifinals, will play their last encounter against Namibia tonight at the Dubai International Stadium.
Ravi Shastri claims that the Indian players are mentally and physically totally drained out after being in the bio-secure bubble for the last six months continuously. Right from the ICC Test Championship finals to the 4 tests India played against England in England, from the IPL 2021 coming to the T20 World Cup which is held in the UAE, Indian players are travelling from one bubble to another without any break.
Virat Kohli and Co. had the worst start possible to their T20 World Cup campaign, after losing back to back games against Pakistan and New Zealand in their first 2 matches. However, they bounced back defeating Afghanistan and Scotland with huge margins but it didn’t increase their qualifying chances as New Zealand were ahead of us for the Number 2 spot in the table.
“The team has been in a bubble for the last 6 months. I am mentally drained but these players are mentally and physically drained. We would have ideally liked a bigger gap between the IPL and the T20 World Cup,” Shastri told the T20 WC broadcasters Star Sports.
“It (journey) has been fantastic” – Ravi Shastri
Player, captain, commentator, columnist, presenter, anchor, NCA head, team manager/director, part-time coach, full-time coach. Can't think of a space Ravi Shastri hasn't delved in. Have asked him lately, what do you make of all this? "Let time be the judge, Shrini".
Top man!

Ahead of the game against Nambia, Ravi Shastri looked back at his time with the Indian team as the head coach and said that he was very proud of his achievements.
”It (journey) has been fantastic. When I took this job, I said in my mind I want to make a difference and I think I have. Sometimes in life, it’s not all about what you accomplish, it’s what you overcome. And what these guys have overcome over the last five years, the way they have travelled across the globe and performed in every part of the globe in all formats of the game will make this – irrespective of what’s happened here – as one of the great teams in the history of the game,” Ravi Shastri said.
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind. It’s unfortunate that we are out of this tournament but that takes nothing away from a great side,” he signed off.
