India and Pakistan will meet in their group-stage clash of the Men’s T20 World Cup on February 15, 2026, at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. This will be their first encounter since the 2025 Asia Cup, where the two sides faced each other three times, including the tournament final. The 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, follows the same format used in 2024.
As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, India and Pakistan are grouped with the USA, Netherlands, and Namibia. India begin their campaign against the USA in Mumbai on February 7, then take on Namibia in Delhi on February 12, Pakistan in Colombo on February 15, and the Netherlands in Ahmedabad on February 18.
Pakistan’s group fixtures will all be played in Colombo or Kandy. The event features 20 teams divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each progressing to the Super Eight stage. Those eight teams will then be split into two groups of four, leading to the semi-finals and final.
India’s Super Eight And Semi-Final Venues Revealed
According to the tournament plan, India’s Super Eight matches, if they qualify, will be held in Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Kolkata, while a potential semi-final for India is scheduled to take place in Mumbai. The venue for the second semi-final will be either Colombo or Kolkata, depending on whether Sri Lanka or Pakistan progress.
The final is scheduled for Ahmedabad, but if Pakistan reach the title match, it is expected to be staged in Colombo instead. The tournament will feature 18 additional teams, such as Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman, and the UAE.
India heads into the event as the reigning champions after beating South Africa in the 2024 final. With their recent success in the T20 format, expectations surrounding India’s campaign are naturally very high.
