Team India head coach Rahul Dravid celebrated his birthday with players and support staff on January 11 at the Newlands in Cape Town. The former captain turned 49-years-old on Tuesday.

Although Dravid celebrated the auspicious day away from his family, but the family made sure he didn’t miss his dear ones. Rahul Dravid cut a cake and shared some heartwarming memories with Team India cricketers.

Pacer Mohammed Shami shared a couple of pictures from the celebration with the fans. Along with the pictures, he wrote:

“Birthday wishes to our very own Head Coach Rahul Dravid Here’s to many more smiles in the future.”

Speaking ahead of the third Test against the Proteas, Rahul Dravid cheekily said he is not sure how to react to birthday wishes as he is getting older.

“When you get older, you’re not sure what to feel when you get wished on your birthday. But it feels nice. Did get a lot of wishes from friends and family,” Dravid said to commentator Pommie Mbangwa.

India lost plot despite Virat Kohli fifty

Opting to bat first in Cape Tow, India once again struggled to post a daunting total. Despite a 50+ run stand between Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, the visitors didn’t manage to capitalise on it.

India lost their last six wickets for just 56 runs. Virat Kohli’s innings was magical, not because it had breathtaking strokes, more because of the way he dug in, especially leaving loads of deliveries outside the off stump. If not for the regular fall of wickets towards the end, he may well have broken his century drought today.

Kagiso Rabada was sensational with the ball returning with four wickets, and his duel with Kohli was truly box-office.

In reply, Jasprit Bumrah got the better of South African captain Dean Elgar before Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj saw the host through to the end of day 1. The Proteas are currently at 17/1, trailing by 206 runs.
