Team India on Monday registered a convincing 372-run win over New Zealand on Day 4 of the second Test match in Mumbai. after that, they donated Rs 35,000 to the Wankhede Stadium groundsmen. However, it was a gesture of appreciation for not dishing out an under-prepared track otherwise the match would have ended inside three days.

Notably, the coaching stint of Rahul Dravid has started with a Test series win against New Zealand at home as well. However, earlier in Kanpur, Dravid had donated Rs 35,000 to Green Park’s ground staff, led by Shiv Kumar, for preparing a good pitch for the first Test against New Zealand as well.

However, after the Kiwis managed to draw the first Test in Kanpur, India had a great show in the second. They had posted 325 runs before restricting New Zealand within 62 runs. Although Ajaz Patel claimed a record 10-wicket, India’s overall performance was way better than that and comfortably won the match as well.

“I think it was good to finish the series as winners, came close in Kanpur, not able to get that last wicket, had to work hard here. This result seems one-sided, but right through the series, we were made to work hard,” India coach Rahul Dravid said after the demolition act.

“There have been phases where we were behind and had to fight back, credit to the team. Great to see the boys stepping up and taking their opportunities,” he further added.
