Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has raised concerns about former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli’s woes against the back of the length deliveries. He was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna from a short pitch delivery in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The talismanic run-scorer managed to score just seven runs in eight balls and failed to make an impact in the crucial game. Kohli has gotten out several times from short-pitched balls. Manjrekar advised Virat Kohli to not play short of length balls on the front foot.
Several experts in the past have raised concerns about Kohli’s struggles outside the off stump. Sanjay Manjrekar believes Virat Kohli needs to work on this technical aspect of the game. Manjarekar also said that Virat can’t ignore this weakness because not everything can be overcome by mental toughness.
“Virat wants to be on the front foot no matter what is not helping his cause. Mental toughness takes you far for sure, but technical issues cannot be ignored completely. Crunch game and front foot to a short of length bouncing ball cost him his wicket again,” Manjrekar said in ESPNcricinfo.
“12th Man army you have been fantastic” – Virat Kohli thanks RCB fans for their support
Virat Kohli has had a horrible season with the bat in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He scored just 341 runs in 16 innings at a poor average of 22 and strike rate of 116. It was a season to forget for Kohli.
Virat in his social media post thanked RCB fans for showing their support in the IPL. Sharing a collage of pictures, the CB star wrote, “Sometimes you win, and sometimes you don’t, but the 12th Man Army, you have been fantastic, always backing us throughout our campaign. You make cricket special. The learning never stops. A big thanks to the management, support staff and all the people who are part of this amazing franchise. See you next season.”
