Rahul Tewatia is known for playing blinders and help his side pull off unbelievable heists. Monday was one such day, when he pulled off an unbelievable chase for Gujarat Titans against Lucknow Super Giants.

After Lucknow crawled back in the game, it was Rahul Tewatia, who changed the momentum and put the Titans on top. He released the pressure hitting a couple of boundaries of Ravi Bishnoi before a couple of more in the final two overs to chase down the total.

Virender Sehwag hailed Tewatia’s clinical role in helping GT win the match by 5 wickets. Tewatia finished not out having knocked 40 runs off 24 balls. Taking to Twitter, the former Indian opener wrote:

“Tewatia Ek kranti hai, saamne waali team mein ashaanti hai. All hail Lord Tewatia. Fantastic win for Gujarat. Great to see the debutant Indians from both teams Ayush Badoni and Abhinav Manohar showing their skills.”

Virender Sehwag also spoke highly of youngsters Ayush Badoni and Abhinav Manohar, who shined on their IPL debut for their individual teams.

Ayush Badoni paired up with Deepak Hooda to lift Lucknow Super Giants’ score from 29/4 to 158/6. Abhinav, on the other hand, scored crucial runs under pressure to win the game for Gujarat.

“We needed a big over and luckily it came our way” – Rahul Tewatia on Gujarat’s victory

Incidentally, Lucknow had the game in control before the 28-year-old all-rounder broke free with a couple of boundaries of Ravi Bishnoi.

Tewatia asserted that they needed a big over which luckily came their way and changed the fortunes of the match.

“The wicket was really good that when Miller and I were in the middle, we spoke about taking it deep. After the timeout, I told him that I will take my chances since the leg-side boundary was short. We needed a big over and luckily it came our way. After that reverse-sweep six I think his thought process might have been to use the longer leg-side boundary. But I had to go for it that over too and select the right ball and play my shots,” Tewatia said at the end of the game.
