Well, what a chase that was by Rajasthan Royals as they complete the highest successful chase in the history of the Indian Premier League. When Rahul Tewatia walked in at four for the Royals side, many eyebrows were raised if this is the right move with the run rate soaring over after over.

Tewatia had a rusty start to the innings as he kept swinging and kept missing majority of the deliveries he faced. He was trying all sorts of things but they weren’t going Rahul Tewatia’s way. But then came the over by Sheldon Cottrell where Rahul smashed five sixes in one over to pull the match in favour of the Rajasthan Royals.

In the chase, Rahul Tewatia scored 53 Off 31 in which he scored just 17 runs in first 23 Balls. But as he realised he has to pull off an impossible chase, He ended up scoring 36 runs in the next 8 deliveries he faced. Which all in was the end for the Kings XI Punjab franchise as Rajasthan chased the target down in the final over.

After the match, the all-rounder spoke how he believed in himself since he was hitting the ball well in the nets. Rahul Tewatia further talked about how those first 20 balls he faced were the worst he’s ever played in his career.

“Now, I’m better. That was the worst first 20 balls that I have ever played. I was hitting the ball very good in the nets, so I had belief in myself and kept going. I was not hitting the ball well initially, I saw in the dug-out, everybody was curious because they know that I can hit the ball long,” Tewatia said at the end of the game.

He mentioned how it was just a matter of one six for the batsmen as then he got the confidence to hit the next ones. Interestingly he revealed how he was sent to attack the leg spinners but failed to do so. In the end, he ended up attacking the left-arm fast bowler.

“I thought I had to believe in myself. It was a matter of one six, after that, I got going. Five in an over went amazing. Coach sent me to hit sixes off the leg-spinner, but unfortunately, I didn’t hit him. Ultimately, I hit off the other bowlers,” he added.
