The current Indian pace attack has earned a lot of accolades for their impressive showdown across formats. They have been one of the significant reasons behind India’s dominant run in the last couple of years. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami accredited the current line-up as the best India have ever produced.

Shami, who battled personal problems has been outstanding in the last couple of years. In 2019, he finished as one of the highest wicket-takers across the formats. Shami along with Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Umesh Yadav have tasted success on all parts of the globe.

During a conversation with former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta on ESPNCricinfo, Mohammed Shami said this is the best pace attack. He also added that India have never witnessed as many as five fast bowlers in a package. The cricketer from Bengal believes the camaraderie that the Indian bowlers share makes them even better as a unit.

“You and everyone in the world will agree to this, that no team has had five fast bowlers together as a package. Not just now, in the history of [Indian] cricket, this might be the best fast-bowling unit. We have bowlers in the reserves who can bowl 145 kph.

“Yes, this is the best ever (pace unit in India’s history). As a fast-bowling unit, even if you look at our nature, on the field or off the field. This is the best attack as no one has any jealousy and everyone enjoys each other’s success,” he added.

Meanwhile, all started from the tour of South Africa in early 2018. The pacers did exceedingly against the Proteas followed by England tour. Although India lost the series, the pacers left an impression. The build-up finally reaped rewards during the tour of Australia in 2018-19 when India registered their first series win down-under.

The likes of Mohammed Shami, Ishant, and Bumrah will hope to keep up the good job and take Indian cricket forward in the coming years.
