Three Indians Named In Women”s World T20 Team of the Tournament

Australian side clinched their fourth Women”s World T20I title today. A team effort from the southern stars reduced the English side to just 105 and Australians chased it sans any pressure.

Alyssa Healy received the player of the tournament award due to her consistent performance with the bat (225 runs). The side was all smiles after the victory and even players such as Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch are all praises for the champions.

The ICC released the team of the tournament for this edition of World T20. The list includes three Indian players in the form of Smriti Mandhana, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and spinner Poonam Yadav. All three of them played their part in the series and these performances earned them as a spot in the team. Kaur even scored the first century by an Indian in world T20 among women and it was a moment to rejoice for her and the squad.

The list has five players from the finals of the tournament including Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry, Amy Jones(the star of the semi-final against India) hat-trick star Anya Shrubsole and Kirstie Gordon.

Deandra Dottin became the only player from the hosts to represent the side while Pakistani skipper Javeria Khan and New Zealand bowler Kasperek also found their places.

Bangladeshi medium pacer Jahanara Alam has been named the 12th man for the side. However, there aren”t any players from South Africa, Sri Lanka and Ireland in the list.

The next edition of the World T20 will be played in 2020 at Australia, the venue for men”s world T20 too. The sides will be having a little break now before they get busy in international schedules.
