The South Africa series is around the corner after IPL 2022 ends later this month. The focus will shift towards the international matches as India are scheduled to host the Proteas for five T20Is. There are reports that the senior players might be rested as well.

The men in blues have a lot of good players now in all formats and there is a good mix of youth and experience. Since it has been a long season for many of the Indian team players who played the series before the IPL and have been thoroughly involved with their franchises.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Pujara (who is in a roaring form in the county circuit for Sussex) among others will be selected for the England tour and will be relieved of the T20I duties against South Africa.

A report in Cricbuzz has claimed that the players that are performing well for their franchises in IPL 2022 might get a chance for the Indian team which would be a good experience for the players as well. Tilak Varma, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh are likely to be rewarded with debut calls.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan could be picked along with Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and  Bhuvneshwar Kumar among others. Dhawan may be back as captain.

The fitness of Suryakumar Yadav, who is out of the IPL, will be assessed before the selection meeting, expected to take place physically, rather than through a zoom call virtually. However, Rahul Dravid and the physios are likely to take the final call.

India to travel to England after South Africa series

The hosts will play the matches in Delhi, Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot and Bengaluru from June 9 to 19. After that India would be touring the United Kingdom for a two-match T20 series in Ireland and then for a Test and white-ball series against England.

There are also reports that the team that will be playing the South Africa series would also travel to the United Kingdom for the T20 series in Ireland as well as the white ball series in England. The team for the South Africa series should be announced in the coming week and a lot of changes are expected considering the workload of the players as well.
