Former Australia player-turned-commentator Tom Moody has compared a ‘special batsman’ Babar Azam with Virat Kohli. He reckons that in the next five to ten years he will be in the top 5 batsmen in the world. Babar who is just 25 years old has already become the best batsman in the Pakistan line up. The right-handed batsman is the only player to be ranked in the top 5 in each format.

There is no denying the fact that Babar Azam is indeed a special talent. Moody believes that there is something special about the batting sensation from Pakistan. Like Kohli, he has been able to perform in all three formats all around the world. The former Aussie cricketer said that people talk about the India skipper but they should also consider watching the Pakistani batsman Babar Azam.

Moody according to a report by Cricket Pakistan said, “Babar has emerged over the last few years into something that is going to be special. We talked about how good Kohli is on the eye as a batsman. If you think Virat Kohli is good to watch, have a look at Babar Azam bat. My gosh, he is something special”. I think in the next five to ten years he will be in your top 5 batsmen in the world without a question”.

Babar Azam in the last year proved his mettle as a Test batsman when he scored a ton in Australia. Before that, he had an underwhelming record as a Test batsman away from home. His home average in Test as of now is 67 and away average is only 37. Tom Moody speaking upon this said that Babar will only get better and his away average will improve in future.

“Even though Babar has played only 26 Tests, but in half of those matches, he wasn’t even considered even a part of the Pakistan batting line up. He was the after-thought down the order”. I think at the moment, it is hard to justify him at that position given his statistics. He is only averaging 37 and at home and at home he averages 67. But we have to consider that he has hardly played away from home and a lot of those game he played was in the early part of his career”, Moody concluded.
