Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody has been one of the most successful coaches in world cricket right now. His man-management and ability to under situations better make him a high-profile coach. Recently, Moody sat down to pick his World T20 XI which has been the trend amid the lockdown.

The veteran has seen many modern-day stars from close quarters from his stint with various T20 teams across the globe. Tom Moody, who also coached Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL picked Rohit Sharma as the skipper.

However, Moody clarified that he didn’t pick MS Dhoni as skipper because the squad only consist of players who are currently active. Tom Moody revealed that he is picking a side who can play a tournament in three weeks.

“So, we are talking of a team that is playing now. Not a team that we have seen play in the last ten years. So I am picking a team that is playing in a tournament in the next three weeks,” Moody said to Cricbuzz.

Tom Moody picked a star-studded top-order for his World T20 XI. He named David Warner, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli as his top three batsmen. Moody then went with Mr. 360 AB de Villiers at number four to complete a formidable top order.

He went with West Indies star Nicholas Pooran as his wicket-keeper to add more balance to his XI by including a left-hander. The former Aussie cricketer then picked West Indies superstar Andre Russell as the fast bowling all-rounder in his side along with Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan as two spinners.

Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will complete the side led by the swashbuckling batter from India. Tom Moody then mentioned he would have gone with Dhoni as his wicket-keeper and captain if he was not naming a side of today. He admitted he is a huge fan of Dhoni both as a player and a captain.

“I just want to clarify that it is a team for today otherwise Dhoni is a no brainer. I am his number one fan and think what he has done, from a captaincy point of view and from a playing perspective it has been unbelievable,” said Moody.
